Europium oxide is an inorganic compound with a pale pink powder. Insoluble in water, soluble in acid. It can volatilize together with steam, is alkaline, toxic, irritating to eyes, respiratory tract and skin. It can absorb carbon dioxide in the air and form water-soluble salts with inorganic acids.
1. Used as red phosphor activator for color TV, phosphor for high pressure lamp.
2. It is used to make dyes, rubber vulcanization accelerators, medicines, pesticides and fungicides, amino resins, ethylenediamine urea-formaldehyde resins, metal chelating agents EDTA, etc.
3. Used as a solvent for fibrin, etc.
