Toepassingen

A) productie van acetvlene.(de reactie CaC2 + 2 H2O  →  C2H2 + Ca(OH)2)

 

b) productie van calciumcvanamide (CaC2 + N2  →  CaCN2 + C)

 

c) staalproductie. Gebruikt bij de ontzwaveling van ijzer (gietijzer, gietijzer en staal)

 

D) Carbide-lampen en andere.

 

Opslag

A) de vaten calciumcarbide moeten worden afgedicht;

 

b) op een droge, koele en drafty plaats worden bewaard;

 

c) moeten worden gescheiden van andere brandbare en explosieve materialen
