Productbeschrijving

Ethyleenglycol/MEG wordt kort ook wel ethyleenglycol, 1, 2-ethyleendiol of EG genoemd. De chemische formule is (CH2OH)2, is de eenvoudigste dihydrische alcohol. Glycol is kleurloos, geurloos, zoet vloeibaar, lage toxiciteit voor dieren, glycol kan wederzijds oplosbaar zijn met water, aceton, maar in de etherklasse is de oplosbaarheid klein. Gebruikt als oplosmiddel, antivries en synthetische polyestergrondstoffen. Het polymeer van ethyleenglycol, polyethyleenglycol (PEG), is een faseclaat-katalysator en wordt ook gebruikt in celfusie; het nitraat is een explosief.
