Product Description
The SmartAX MA5600T/MA5603T/MA5608T is a multi-service access module launched by Huawei.
MA5600T/MA5603T/MA5608T Positioning
The MA5600T/MA5603T/MA5608T, functioning as an integrated optical-copper access equipment, provides the integrated broadband and narrowband access and FTTx optical access services that feature high rate, high bandwidth, and high quality. It can function as an OLT, MSAN, or IP DSLAM. The MA5600T is a large-capacity device, the MA5603T is a medium-capacity device and the MA5608T is a small-capacity device.
Supports the 10G GPON and GPON access service. All the three can function as an optical line terminal (OLT) in the GPON system, working with the optical network terminal (ONT) or other optical network units (ONUs).
Supports the point-to-point (P2P) FE/GE optical access. The P2P board is mainly used for cascading, and it can also provide users with P2P FTTH access by cooperating with ONTs.
Provides the voice service solution based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and H. 248, supports the POTS port to implement the voice service, fax service, narrowband modem service, and various supplementary services.
Provides the E1/N*64k private line service through the TDM SHDSL board. And H802EDTB board supports the TDM SHDSL feature.
Supports broadband access services such as ADSL2+, VDSL2, and SHDSL, enhancing the xDSL function.
In the upstream direction, the device is generally connected to the IP/MPLS network through the Ethernet (GE/10GE) port.
New Features
New boards and features added in the V800R013C00 version deliver greater benefits to customers. This topic describes the major features and boards added in the version: vectoring, SPUF functioning as a Layer 3 forwarding board, Ethernet ring protection switching (ERPS), 1588v2 clock synchronization, and distributed cable modem terminal system (D-CMTS) centralized management.
Vectoring
A new board, H806VPEA whose power consumption is low and the system level vectoring (SLV) supports more lines, is added to V800R013C00.
SLV is capable of counteracting the crosstalk between 384 VDSL2 lines on the OLT.
The static and maximum power consumption of the board decrease because of the power conservation. For more details about the power consumption, see Board Specifications
H801SPUF Functioning as a Layer 3 Forwarding Board
A new board, H801SPUF, is added to V800R013C00 to function as a Layer 3 forwarding board, which strengthens the Layer 3 forwarding capabilities of the system.

ERPS
The Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) is the ring protocol in the G.8032 distributed by the ITU-T. To resolve the loop issues caused by redundancy backup in a network, OLTs of earlier versions support the STP and RRPP protocols, which have restrictions in convergence and interoperability. V800R013C00 supports ERPS and enables a fault recovery time of 100 ms, which is 10 times shorter than the fault recovery time of STP (counted by seconds). This feature addresses customer requirements for better convergence performance. ERPS is a protocol defined in Recommendation ITU-T G.8032. Interoperation is achieved if all devices participating in the ring network support ERPS.
1588v2 Clock Synchronization
The 1588v2 feature supports a 50 ppb clock frequency and nanosecond-level clock synchronization, which is 1000 times more precise than the millisecond-level NTP clock synchronization.
Upgrade Without Service Interruption
Upgrade without service interruption is supported for control boards and service boards. In versions earlier than V800R013C00, upgrade without service interruption is supported only for control boards. In the FTTM scenario where service boards are in redundancy backup, service interruption is shortened to within 500 ms during an upgrade. Therefore, uninterrupted services, such as uninterrupted voice and IPTV services, are ensured.
D-CMTS Centralized Management
Distributed cable modem termination system (D-CMTS) centralized management: An optical line terminal (OLT) deployed in a branch equipment room functions as a main frame and connects to D-CMTSs (MA5633s, extended frames) located on optical nodes by using GPON or GE cascading boards. In this manner, remote extended frames are no longer standalone NEs (no longer allocated independent management IP addresses), but are managed by the main frame. These remote extended frames are regarded as remote service boards of the main frame and have the same functions and features as those of the main frame.
In D-CMTS centralized management, the OLT and the MA5633s are compatible with the existing MSO network and can replace traditional CMTSs. The coaxial cable network on the user side and the metro aggregation network remain unchanged. Software commissioning is not required for remote extended frames and one onsite operation suffices, which can save the maintenance consumption.
